The Professors passion for "The Science of Deceit" started here...

Employed by the Ministry (in a covert capacity) to help introduce the law ending dishonest politics, you can see his hand all over the posts of past.

Current political circumstances have forced him to reveal himself and as we speak, MPs are signing up to re-introduce The Elected Representatives (Prohibition of Deception) Bill for debate with over 80,000 voters supporting them.

Posts before Jan '08 are purely for the record (with hindsight they make fascinating reading). Posts after May 13th mark the Professor's return.

Lord knows, Attlee a Kant ?

Grandson of Clement Attlee the current Lord Attlee is currently a member of the Lords Opposition Whips' Office. He was kind enough to respond to our request for support of the Elected Representatives (Prohibition of Deception) Act with this e-mail
Fortunately I have a large waste paper basket very near me.
In addition my computer has a very useful delete button.
Best regards Lord Attlee
Generally indicative of the split across Parliament - some get it and want it debated pronto, others.... well. You may want to evaluate his Lordship with the on-line Kantometer and send him the results at ATTLEEJ@parliament.uk

Enjoy

  1. By inference from his reply I feel Lord Attlee is not fully supportive of the Act. Perhaps a clearer outline of what is and what is not deception needs to be addressed. After all this is a Parliamentary democracy, what promises are made and which are kept could or could not be classed as a deception in order to gain Power/Office. This is an age old tradition from all parties.Just take any European issue, one minute we want to be part of the European family the next we want to oppose anything to do with it, the sooner we can all sing from the same hymn sheet the better we will all be, but in the meantime we will have to put up with the spin and greater spin of our policy-making leaders, not forgetting the expenses deceptions, a duck house to ease the over crowding of urban families, a moat cleaning ploy I bet that improved the lot of the those who live in the vicinity, and not forgetting the entertainment perhaps we can all go out and buy X rated video's and claim for them on the grounds it will strengthen the nation's resolve. Dare I go on why not, what about our service men and women who are dying for their nation whilst the Government bang on about they are doing all they can for our troops - Deception - I will leave that to you to decide, even top ranking military officers are standing up to be counted to save the souls of our troops, against those who stand to represent them. Here's a thought - You don't need any qualifications to become a member of Parliament yet when you are given an office you can tell our senior military top brass what to do and how to do it, if they don't agree you move them out on some sideways promotion, what a lot of tosh, perhaps we should have a complete overhaul of our House of Commons and allow our Lords to keep things in order by employing those who are Captains of Industry and of our Military at least we will have experts in their own right and not a lot of squabbling rhetoric from the in experienced.
Protect our Queen, protect our nation and maintain our world standing, by telling us all the truth even if sometimes it might be a difficult task to undertake.
