The Professors passion for "The Science of Deceit" started here...

Employed by the Ministry (in a covert capacity) to help introduce the law ending dishonest politics, you can see his hand all over the posts of past.

Current political circumstances have forced him to reveal himself and as we speak, MPs are signing up to re-introduce The Elected Representatives (Prohibition of Deception) Bill for debate with over 80,000 voters supporting them.

Posts before Jan '08 are purely for the record (with hindsight they make fascinating reading). Posts after May 13th mark the Professor's return.

  1. Blair's wrong. Thing is, he absolutely knew it all along and we should've.

  2. You can tell when these guys are lying. Their lips move.

  3. Oh dear, oh dear...where did it all go wrong Tony? It will be quite amusing if 'The Misrepresentation of the People Act' is brushed off by the Labour party given this statement.

"People want honest politics and they are going to get it...well, kind of"

  4. We should know better by now than to trust statements like that. That holds in general, but particularly with politicians and corporate mouthpieces.

I was accosted by two survey-types yesterday wanting to know if I'd rather vote for a candidate with a red, yellow or blue ribbon. They were quite surprised when I said that I couldn't care less, and would want to hear the guy's policy pitch before deciding. Unfortunately this is the mindset these guys have. Bread and circusses to keep the masses happy.

  6. It is really depressing when you think about the extent to which members of the public are manipulated by the 'show' of an election campaign

  7. shame on you Tony. You were supposed to get us away from Pimp politics and you have been the worst. Shame shame shame.

  8. He didn't mean from his government... in fact he never said he meant from his government. You stupid people just inferred that he did. He meant that at some point in time, that would happen.

  9. um, why would he say that during his election campaign if he didn't mean that he was going to deliver it? 'Vote for me because some time in the future some other cabinet is going to give you honest politics'...I don't think so.

  10. How could we ever expect one man to bring honesty to politics? Even if Blair really did intend to try, he could never have succeeded: how could he force every member of his administration to be honest at all times?

Parliamentary convention requires ministers to resign when they are found to have lied (or to have been incompetent), but this can only work if they have the decency to take responsibility for their mistakes.

Self-regulation will not work in a society where ministers have no shame: we need a legal incentive to keep them straight.

Here, here. though I think the matter's even more straightforward than that. As per the Manifesto post (http://mo-truth.blogspot.com/2007/02/manifesto-of-sorts.html). It's our sovereignty. We're entitled to legal redress other than at a general election where we're trying to vote in a government on a whole bunch of criteria.

What's the difference. Even if you could section him there aren't any spaces/beds/wards/warders/institutes. Come to think of it. Even if you passed the Act, made it a criminal offence and successfully proosecuted TB, you couldn't put him inside cos there's no cells/beds etc...
